Artificial intelligence is no longer an inaccessible behind-the-scenes tool that only select tech giants can indulge in. Companies using AI increasingly adopt it in advertising, even in industries you’d least expect, like fashion.

And the impact of AI may be far more widespread than you could imagine. According to GroupM, AI will inform 94.1% of ad revenue by 2029.

If you’re not quite sure how AI in advertising has evolved and need AI advertising examples to either inform or inspire you, you’re exactly where you need to be. We’ll walk you through some different use cases of AI in advertising, including the best AI advertising campaigns alongside generative AI advertising examples that have made headlines.

The AI advertising examples we’ll look at are from the following companies:

  1. H&M
  2. KitKat
  3. Heinz
  4. British Council
  5. Nike
  6. Virgin Voyages
  7. Cadbury
  8. Unilever
  9. Mint Mobile
  10. Forever 21
  11. Coca-Cola

AI advertising example #1: H&M’s AI digital twins

In 2025, H&M took a controversial approach to its marketing by creating AI-generated ‘digital twins’ for its advertising campaigns. These are digital renders of 30 real-life human models, essentially replicas of the real thing.

As AI in fashion is a relatively hot topic, this is one of the boldest examples of AI in advertising right now.

The reason for this approach? According to H&M’s Chief Creative Officer, Jorgen Andersson, this move aims to “enhance [H&M’s] creative process and how we work with marketing but fundamentally not change our human-centric approach.”

The models involved in this project also expressed enthusiasm. Mathilda Gvarliani claimed, “It’s like me, without the jet” when referring to her AI duplicate. And if you’re wondering about compensation, H&M confirmed that the models have complete control over their image rights and will be compensated accordingly.

AI advertising example #2: KitKat’s Have AI break

We all remember the disaster of early-stage AI. And it sure has come a long way since then—but not before KitKat had the time to poke fun at its wacky early-stage visual outputs.

Using text prompts such as “write a KitKat ad the way Gen Z speaks,” KitKat created scripts and visuals for its ad to make one of the more chuckle-worthy generative AI examples on this list. The output was a symphony of AI-driven visuals mimicking typical Kit Kat ads. Except this time, it was all choppy, slightly disfigured figures eating chocolate.

The core message of this ad was simple: KitKat let AI do the heavy lifting so its marketing team could “sit back and ‘have a break.’” As part of this ad campaign, they also added a twist to their usual slogan, from “Have a Break” to “Have AI Break.”

This AI advertising campaign reinforced their core message and broke the fourth wall between brand-to-customer communications. These different aspects made it stand out among other companies using AI in advertising using a ‘safer’ approach.

AI advertising example #3: Heinz’s AI ketchup ads

Heinz was also eager to jump on the bandwagon of AI when the AI craze resurfaced in 2022 to create one of the more visually engaging generative AI advertising examples.

The company launched a playful ad campaign asking AI image-generation tools to create images of ketchup. And to their surprise, the pictures generated by AI tools resembled Heinz ketchup bottles—a testament to the brand’s strength and iconic look.

Leaning into this realization, Heinz turned this campaign slogan into “Even Artificial Intelligence knows ‘ketchup’ looks like Heinz,” attaching it to different iterations of ketchup bottles generated by AI.

AI advertising example #4: British Council’s localized ads

British Council needed a way to ramp up its digital ad production across dozens of countries. At the same time, they wanted to keep their production of visual assets resource-friendly.

Their solution? Use Creatopy’s AI-powered ad automation platform to produce over 1000 localized ad variations quickly and hassle-free. This tool took the load off designers’ shoulders—a huge relief for those involved—and shortened time-to-launch from weeks to days.

AI advertising example #5: Nike and Serena Williams

As part of its 50th-anniversary celebration, Nike collaborated with AKQA studios by using machine learning and AI in advertising to create a cutting-edge campaign featuring Serena Williams.

The advert was incredibly complex, built on thousands of data points collected from over 18 years of Serena Williams’ archived matches. Using AI to analyze her playing styles and on-court behavior, Nike simulated a match between 17-year-old Serena and her 35-year-old self—a visual testament to how far AI has come.

This ad highlighted Serena as an ever-evolving athlete. Not only that, but it also showcased Nike’s advanced technological prowess. Combined, these elements pushed the brand’s dedication to ongoing innovation and growth.

AI advertising example #6: Virgin Voyages’ Jen AI

Virgin Voyages went beyond just AI to create one of the best AI advertisements to date.

Partnering with VML and WPP, its advertisement created a striking combo of celebrity endorsement, brand voice, and generative AI to launch Jen AI, a virtual spokesperson based on Jennifer Lopez.

Jen AI was created to help users craft personalized video invitations from Jennifer Lopez ‘herself.’ How? By detailing the recipients’ names and details, which Jen AI could use to create a personalized video inviting these people to a Virgin Voyage cruise experience.

AI advertising example #7: Cadbury’s #NotJustCadburyAd 2.0

This next example of AI in advertising is a heartwarming one.

For their second edition of the #NotJustCadburyAd campaign, Cadbury teamed up with Wavemaker India and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan to democratize advertising during Diwali—a time when big brands typically take center stage.

With AI-driven facial mapping and machine learning, the campaign enabled shopkeepers to create custom ads in which Khan seemingly endorsed their store by name.

As one of the influential and recognizable Bollywood legends, Shah Rukh Khan adds immense credibility. This helped small business owners a lot, as they could lean on his image to boost their own companies in a way that might’ve otherwise been unattainable.

AI advertising example #8: Unilever’s ice cream for breakfast idea

Unilever’s approach to AI in advertising shows that the application of AI isn’t always overtly visual. The company used AI to dig deep through behavioral data, market trends, songs, and customer sentiment to uncover a new insight: People enjoyed the concept of ice cream for breakfast.

Instead of dismissing this finding, they found a way to capitalize on it, which involved launching Ben & Jerry’s cereal-flavored ice cream.

This unique take on ideating a marketing campaign helped them think outside the box and stay ahead of the competition. The takeaway? Companies using AI can unlock an entirely new set of opportunities if they use it right.

AI advertising example #9: Mint Mobile’s AI advertising script

Mint Mobile is known for its funky marketing strategies and frontman, Ryan Reynolds. But what made one of their advertisement stand out was its honest, transparent, and unashamed use of ChatGPT.

This ad involved Ryan Reynold asking ChatGPT to create a Mint Mobile ad in his own voice, including mentioning a joke, existing ongoing promotions, and a curse word. The result? An average, slightly awkward script that Reynolds read as a call to action.

While it wasn’t a particularly great sales pitch, it sure was amusing. Not only did this generative AI advertising example reinforce the brand’s playful personality, but it also effectively exploited the AI trend.

AI advertising example #10: Forever 21’s AI-driven influencer partnerships

Forever 21 partnered with BENlabs to help it find suitable influencers for its Lakers sportswear collection. As a more operational example of AI in advertising, this was no easy feat. They had to find influencers that were both inclusive and accessible—those that resonated with sports and fashion enthusiasts while keeping affordability at the forefront.

To identify these influencers, they used AI-driven audience analysis and influencer matching. This pointed to 15 content creators that matched Forever 21’s brand values and were suitable for this campaign.

Once these influencer collaborations were completed—leading to the creation of 10 influencer content pieces—Forever 21 saw over 240k organic views and 127k organic engagements for their influencer marketing campaigns

AI advertising example #11: Coca-Cola’s AI-generated holiday ad

Coca-Cola has become a staple part of the Christmas holidays. In fact, you’ll likely recall its holiday ads—which typically include Santa, Coca-Cola trucks, and plenty of Coca-Cola cans and bottles—echoing in the background as you celebrated with loved ones.

Using decades of Christmas advertising success, they combined all their go-to Christmas ad elements and wrapped it up with a touch of AI technology. In doing so, they created a unique blend between cutting-edge innovation and nostalgia.

The result? A novel yet comforting Christmas ad—one of the best advertising campaigns of the season.
